Example of Land Rover Defender camper from CamperHus
This example Defender camper is a 2002 (02) 5 door defender. Originally a 9 seater county. Some base vehicles also come with air-conditioning, heated seats, ABS etc, but you will pay more for these vehicles.
A new rear pop up roof has been added. The roof is manufactured in the UK and is made up of insulated and reinforced GRP with mid grey heavy duty cotton canvas that is used for the sides of the roof. This is a top quality product with rear window, side mesh windows and top vent mesh all with a zip covers.
The custom made roof rack is made specifically for this conversion and gives some load space at the front as well as allowing awnings etc to be connected to the camper. Solar panels can be easily fixed to the pop up roof and this has proven to be a popular extra.
The bed/seat as shown in these examples fits along the side of the vehicle giving plenty of sitting area for 2. The box seat at the front extends to create a further 2 seats so you can seat 4 in the back when stationary. You can see that with the box seat stored away you can also have the original single rear seat in place. If a fourth seat is required you can have a front centre seat installed. Other seating options are possible, we can discuss your requirements.
The electrics are controlled by a CBE control unit that not only handles the mains voltage but also the 12v systems. This has a remote display and control panel that also monitors and maintains the leisure & vehicle batteries. There are two mains sockets and two 12v accessory sockets as well as a TV ariel point. Also within the 12v system are two rear LED spotlights one LED spotlight to the front and two strip light over the hob/sink, rear sitting area. Gas storage is behind the drivers seat accessed via the passenger door. There is also some useful storage in this area.
The camper includes a hob and sink combination. They have separate black glass lids so that, if you wish, one can be used and the other remains covered. There are two gas burners and a fold down tap included. Gas is stored to the rear of the camper for safety. Water is stored in a fixed tank below the seat, which is filled from outside. Included in the water system is a Shurflo pump and water filter to help improve the quality of the drinking water.
The furniture provides adequate storage within the camper. This includes 2 small floor level cupboard, 2 cupboard below sink/hob, one large wardrobe, a small cupboard above the fridge and another storage area below the seat in the rear of the camper. In addition to this there is also a storage area below the box seat, this is designed to fit a portable loo, if required, or can be used to store shoes etc. The table is stored in the roof when travelling.
Also included is a Vitrifrigo C39i fridge which is a wonderful fridge ideal for this size of camper. It also includes a 3.5LT freeze compartment. The fridge is designed to operate when the camper is on the move, stationary or connected to the mains.
